Trailer Hitch Installation - 2009 Volkswagen New Beetle - Draw-Tite- Video

Today on our 2009 Volkswagen Beetle, we're going to be taking a look at and showing you how to install the Drawtite Sport Frame Trailer Hitch, Receiver Class 1, part number 24679. You'll see our hitch installed, you can see it's got a nice black powder coated finish, with a large flat stock bar design. It's a 1-1/4" class 1 hitch. It's got a nice round style safety chain loop, it's going to allow you to put a large hook in there. This hitch is going to allow you to have 200 pounds of tone weight, which is the amount of down force, and 2,000 pounds of trailer towing weight, which is how much it's pulling on your hitch. Then you want to check with your manufacturer to make sure your vehicle's designed to pull that kind of weight. It's a bolt on design. more

Trailer Hitch Installation - 2005 Volkswagen New Beetle - Draw-Tite- Video

Today on this 2005 Volkswagen new Beetle, we're going to show you the draw-tite, class 1, instant quarter hitch, part number 24679. First thing we need to do is go ahead and clean out the spare tire area. We'll end up drilling some holes into the trunk pan, but we don't want to damage the spare tire. Next step, we need to get underneath the vehicle and we need to lower the exhaust. To do that we're going to unbolt our exhaust hanger bracket here and here. We use a 13 millimeter socket for that. Now we need to modify the heat shield a little bit here, so I'm going to use tin snips to cut down this edge here, and I'm just going to bend it up. I'm going to use the end of the hammer here and help push up the edges up and out of the way. more

Trailer Hitch Installation - 2003 Volkswagen New Beetle - Draw-Tite- Video

Today, on our 2003 Volkswagen New Beetle Hardtop, we're going to install Part Number 24679. This is a Draw Tite Sportframe Trailer Hitch Receiver, Class I, 1-1/4 inch. This is what the hitch looks like once installed on our Beetle. We'll take a closer look at it, you can see it does sit entirely below the bottom edge of the bumper. This has an 1-1/4 inch receiver hitch. It also uses a 1/2 inch, hinchpin hole. You've got 2 loops here for your safety chains for your trailer. more

Trailer Hitch Installation - 2000 Volkswagen Beetle - Hidden Hitch- Video

Today in our 2000 Volkswagen Beetle, we'll be installing hinge hitch Part #60902. Now, before we begin our installation, here are a few measurements to help you when selecting accessories such as a bike rack or a cargo carrier. From the center of the hinge hitch hold to the outer most part of the bumper is 5.5 inches. From the top of the receiver to the ground is 7.25 inches. Now, let's go ahead with our install. To begin our installation, underneath the vehicle here, we'll need to remove the exhaust hangar bracket. more

Trailer Hitch Installation - 2002 Volkswagen Beetle- Video

Today on this 2002 VW Beetle we are going to install part number 24679 from Draw-Tite. As shown here, this is what the hitch looks like when it is installed on the vehicle. Next we will give you some measurements that will help you out in ing some accessories such as a bicycle rack, a ball mount or a cargo carrier. From the top of the receiver opening down to the ground on this particular vehicle is going to be 7-5/8 inches.
